The concept of the Shadow Cabinet is one of the finest ideas I've seen used in the Parliamentary system of Government. This is where a real Opposition party comes in handy. I first encountered this concept in Jeffrey Archer's First Among Equals (which was also, incidentally, recommended by my high school English teacher). Wonder when the Indian Parliament and Parties will mature enough to have a Shadow Cabinet and fulfil their reason for existence.
